Grammar section: lesson 3

Indefinite articles A-An

When do we use A?

When the nouns start with a consonant

For example

A  dog
A  chair
A  bed

When  do we use AN?

When the nouns start with a vowel

An apple
An airplane
An umbrella

But, keep in mind the exceptions

1. We sometimes use A with the nouns start with a vowel. It happens with words that start with a vowel that sounds as a consonant.

One /wan/
University /juniversiti/
Euro /juarau/

2.  We sometimes use A with some nouns that start with H. We said this because it's going to depend on the pronunciation.
2.1  When the H is deaf we use AN
2.2 Whereas when the H has a sound at the moment it pronouns, it must be accompanied with A.

1.1
An hour
An honour
An honest

2.2
A house
A hen
A hundred

Now, let's practice!
